It’s official folks. Sony Ericsson’s latest and possibly greatest handset, their Windows Mobile 6.1 enabled Xperia X1 is due for launch on November 28th 2008 - that’s in a couple of weeks. Of course it’s initially launching in the US so it’ll be a little while before it gets here."The Xperia X1 continues the Sony Ericsson tradition of delivering the highest quality experiences and the most advanced technology available today," said Karen Morris, vice president of marketing, Sony Ericsson North America. With up to 9 panels, it's easy to find and enjoy the information and entertainment content they want. Sony Ericsson is busy working with third-party developers to create a wealth of new applications and new panels that will soon be available for download.
"Windows Mobile gives people the ability to easily navigate between their business and personal lives," said Todd Peters, vice president of marketing, Mobile Communications Business, Microsoft. "The panel user interface found only in the Xperia X1 is bringing unique experiences to consumers who want more from their converged devices."As Sony Ericsson's most advanced phone to date, the Xperia X1 brings together a large, 3-inch wide VGA display touchscreen and a full QWERTY keyboard all wrapped into a sleek silver metal-finished arc slider handset. Ericsson to bring 20 megapixel cameras on mobile
By Koushik Saha on 10.11.08
Filed Under: gadgets, hardware, hspa evolution, mobile, Sony, Sony erricson
In a recent press conference, Ericsson AB of Sweden announced that through technologies such as “HSPA Evolution” and” LTE” (long term evolution), by the year 2012, they would develop mobile phones with cameras from 12-20 megapixel and Full HD video shooting capabilities. The future might also bring an XGA resolution display (1024x768 pixels) with a digital camera and new camcorder technologies to mobile phones. But that's not all, the processor will be updated to a staggering 1Ghz and the connection to Internet will became as fast as 100Mbps.
These predictions are based on the company's discoveries as well as the fact that data transmission grew over 60 times in the last six years, but added that only working gradually, these advancements would take place. Also, the maximum data transmission will probably rise to 21Mbps this year alone thanks to the HSPA Evolution technology in comparison with 7.2Mbps available now.The other important announcement made by Ericsson was that even if these technologies are to be successfully developed, introducing them to the market would be complicated, and some areas might not have access to the LTE advancements immediately whereas same regions would not take advantage of the HSPA and HSPA Evolution developments.
Even with all the good news spreading rapidly and endlessly, I feel obliged to reconnect some of you back to reality, for we are all aware of the economic status of the world, which is sure to get worse and, of course, to try to minimize the degree of disappointment if all this does not materialize.

The Bold was first announced in May, when rumors first circulated about the BlackBerry Thunder, which Verizon Wireless will begin selling later in the year. The Bold had earlier been referred to as the BlackBerry 9000.
The Bold features a smaller screen than the Thunder, but it also has a QWERTY keyboard, instead of an on-screen keyboard. It boasts a powerful 624-MHz mobile processor, with 1GB of onboard storage, which can be upgraded to 16GB with an SD expansion slot. Built-in GPS and Wi-Fi are also provided.

Verizon Wireless has touted both the consumer and business-user qualities of the BlackBerry Storm as well, noting that IT managers have come to rely on BlackBerry security more than other devices. The announcement of Bold's availability came on the same day that T-Mobile USA Inc. put the G1 Android phone on sale, amid a season of smart-phone launches that included the July iPhone 3G launch by Apple Inc.
Motorola Inc. this week also said it is building its own Android phone, with a touch screen and slide-out QWERTY keyboard.

Touchscreen N-Series soon by Nokia
By Koushik Saha on 13.10.08
Filed Under: gadgets, mobile, n series, nokia, smartphone, touch screen
It seemed highly unlikely for Nokia to keep the N-series basic – if basic is a term that can be used to describe this series. One thing that was certain, however, was that the Finnish company would do something innovative and take the phones one step further.Rumors have been circulating for some time regarding touchscreen technology added to the future N-series phones, and this weekend, they were confirmed. At a Nokia event in New Delhi, Devinder Kishore, director of marketing, Nokia India, said that, “We will have lot of touchscreen phones coming up, including an N-series device very soon.”
The N-series from Nokia is known as a product family that brings users multimedia smartphones supporting digital multimedia services like music playback, video capture, photography, this together with the mobile gaming experience and Internet services. It would quite abnormal if an N-series device did not support at least one high-speed wireless technology like 3G or Wireless LAN.Lately, the N-series phones have showed their high degree of versatility, when director Mike Hodgkinson filmed Eskimohunter's Surfing at 32°F video using N95, N93 and N93i. “Everything I imagined, the Nokia Nseries devices let me create. I really wanted to push the Nokia equipment to its limits, and each responded brilliantly. I’ve taken Nseries devices underwater, attached them to helium balloons and dangled them 100 feet above the Los Angeles River… and I’ve never lost a shot.” Hodgkinson said.
Going back to what Devinder Kishore said, we must take in consideration what "very soon" might mean, since it is unsure whether we'll get to see the new N-series touchscreen phones at the end of this year or at the beginning of 2009. Either way, let's hope that we'll have more information coming our way really soon, and perhaps even some leaked images of a touchscreen N-series device.

While the world drools over touchscreen phones with Wi-Fi, HTC has plans to go a step beyond. Leaked photos of the HTC model T8290 indicate WiMAX support is in the pipeline. The model looks like the HTC Touch HD with an added WiMAX capability as its defining feature.See that inverted human figure on the back of the phone? That's the logo of Russia based Mobile WiMAX technology service provider Yota.So far the following specs were leaked:
- 3.8-inch WVGA 800x480 LCD display
- WiMAX & WiFi (802.11g)
- Bluetooth 2.0With mobile WiMAX on the phone, speeds of over 14mbps can be expected over a stable WiMAX network. But do we have WiMAX yet? We're yet to see even 3G operational in India.
Being the first ever WiMAX phone -- would take it to where even not many notebooks plan to go; expect the T8290 to be priced phenomenally if it rolls out in other countries.
