Intex Technologies (India) has announced nine new notebooks - Intex Lifestyle Book, Gaming Book, Tablet Pad and 3 variants each of
Business book and Education book - to cater to varied consumers like working women, gaming and fashion enthusiasts, professionals, students, etc.
All the notebooks are Wi-fi and Bluetooth enabled.The Intex Lifestyle Book has been put together with the working woman in mind and features a 12.1'' TFT-LCD screen.
The laptop weighs 1.8 kgs, comes in 3 color options - pink, black and white and runs on Intel's Dual Core processor. This model has been priced at Rs. 33,000.
The Intex Gaming Book is as the name suggests designed for high end gaming and complete entertainment.The machine is features Intel Centrino technology, Nvidia Graphic power, SRS WOW technology-based speakers and an inbuilt hybrid TV Tuner. It costs Rs. 75,900.
The Intex Tablet Pad is features a 12.1" TFT touch screen which can rotate at 180 degrees, weighs 2.1 Kg and is priced at Rs. 47,900.
These machines are available in screen sizes of 15.4" and 13.3"and come with the features like HDMI port for high resolution output to HDTV, high quality sound output, logical short/hot keys to play music and access the Internet, security features like finger print and Kensington lock. The price range is Rs. 32,900 - Rs.42,900.
The Intex Education books aimed at students and executives come at prices ranging from Rs. 25,900 - Rs. 29,900.

Wi-Fi theft is turning into a menace of inordinate proportions and home-based wireless networks are sitting ducks for bandwidth thieves, a demographic that now also includes wily terrorists. A case that has come to light in India will insure that some of the benevolent Wi-Fi hosts will never turn off their firewalls or show vacuous disregard towards bandwidth theft.
An American national, Kenneth Haywood, was nabbed by the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) from his Mumbai residence after it was found that e-mails claiming responsibility for heinous serial blasts in Ahmedabad, India on 26th July – that claimed 46 innocent lives and wounded many more – emanated from his IP address.He is fortunate that the cyber experts of the ATS bought his plea, that his Wi-Fi might have been used by the terrorists to send the e-mail without him being in the know. Of course, their preliminary investigation also seems to suggest the same, as he hasn’t been booked under any law. However, he has been told not to leave the country until further notice.
Several fear-mongers have prophesied about the threat cyber terrorism poses. This isn’t the deadly manifestation of cyber terrorism that they talk about, it is a sinister beginning all the same.

Lenovo has entered the netbook market with the IdeaPad S9 and S10 netbooks.The netbooks are approximately one inch thin and weigh just over two pounds.The S9 has an 8.9-inch screen while the S10 has a 10.2-inch screen. Both models come in glossy deep blue, ruby red and classic black. Lenovo has designed the keyboard to be 85 percent the size of a full-function notebook PC's keyboard, and an energy-efficient LED backlit display helps provide longer battery life than traditional displays.The netbooks feature Wi-fi and optional Bluetooth connectivity and also have an Express Card slot so users can enable the netbook for optional high speed mobile broadband connectivity. The netbooks feature a built-in web camera, two USB ports, a 4-in-1 multicard reader and come equipped with either Microsoft Windows XP or Linux.
The IdeaPad netbooks offer up to 1 GB of memory and either 80 GB or 160 GB hard disk drive space.
Lenovo has engineered the netbooks to reduce the heat emitted on key contact areas such as the bottom of the PC, the palm rest and the keyboard.
Additionally, Lenovo's OneKey Rescue System on Microsoft Windows-based netbooks helps users recover data at the touch of a button should a system error or virus occur.
The IdeaPad netbooks will be available in September in India at all Lenovo authorized storefronts, for approximately Rs. 15, 000 for the S9 and Rs. 17,000 for the S10.
