Sharkoon Silent Eagle Modular Fan: QuickConnect port with four cables for mainboards (PWM) and power supplies (7, 9 or 12V) / available in 80mm and 120mm / 60cm extended cable available separately / MSRP starting at 11 euros.Flexible cable management is now available for fans. At CeBIT Sharkoon will be showcasing a new innovation in fan design: a case fan with modular cable system. The Sharkoon Silent Eagle SE features a 4 pin connector built into the fan's frame and comes with four different cables for connecting the fan to a mainboard, fan controller or power supply. The fan can be used with a CPU cooler or as a case or hard drive fan. The speed of the fan can be controlled via PWM signal or through three different cables directly connected to the power supply. Users can, according to need, choose the connection type, fan speed, and consequently the loudness and purpose for which the fan is used. Sharkoon offers the Silent Eagle SE in 80mm and 120mm.
Four cables are included with the fan, and include a 4-pin PWM cable that can be controlled by the mainboard and three cables with Molex connectors that limit the voltage to 12, 9 or 7 volts. The 30cm long cables are individually labelled and colour coded for easy reference as well as featuring a robust casing. Sharkoon also offers separately a 60cm cable for users with large cases. The Silent Eagle SE operates with an efficient, low-noise motor that provides silent operation under each connection. The 80mm fan has a maximum rotation of 2000 rpm and, depending on rotation, a noise level of between 6.5 and 22 dB(A). The 120mm fan has a maximum rotation of 1200 rpm and maximum loudness of 20.5 dB(A).
For Optimal airflow the fan features the typical Silent Eagle golf ball design. The surface of each blade has countless dimples, lowering resistance and limiting turbulence, in order to reduce noise at all speeds. In addition, the rounded frame helps to increase the flow of air. Included with the fan, in addition to the cables, are four screws to attach the fan or four rubber bolts that further dampen fan vibrations.
End customers will find the Sharkoon Silent Eagle Modular Fan available immediately from authorized retailers for the suggested retail price of 11 euros (80mm) and 13 euros (120mm). The optional 60cm extended cable is available separately for the suggested retail price of 2.49 euros.

This is the first time I have had the pleasure of getting my hands on a GELID cooler. Most likely this is due to GELID being a fledgling company established in 2008, based in Hong Kong with Swiss management. As you know from their knives, the Swiss leave nothing to chance. And this goes for GELID’s products as well. There are features on this cooler that take engineers a lot of time to figure out solutions to, but GELID took the bull by the horns and ran with their ideas and concepts which made it to the fruition of their new cooler. With GELID taking their name based off the word gelidus, Latin for icy or extremely cold, with our testing we shall see if they can stand up to their company name sake. This time around, we are looking at the GELID Silent Sprit, the latest of GELID’s productsto surface. This coolers small footprint and lower clearance makes it a good candidate for HTPC’s and m-ATX users. With the 90mm fan that comes supplied with the Silent Spirit, I would expect this cooler to hold its own against the rest of the group. While I would lay money on the fact that this cooler isn’t designed with the overclocker in mind, here at TweakTown we pull no punches when testing our coolers; they all get equal abuse in our testing. With that being said, I think it’s about time to get a look at the Silent Spirit and strap it to the test rig and see just how well GELID does.

Coolit Domino A.L.C. Water Cooler

When Geoff Lyon, the Chief Executive Officer of CoolIt Systems, told the Fall 2008 Intel Developers Forum that he was coming out with an Advanced Liquid Cooling (A.L.C.) solution for under $100 it grabbed my attention. I've worked with many cooling companies for the past six years and bringing a functional water cooler to the market for under $100 was said to be impossible if you still wanted decent performance. When I think of a low cost internal water cooling system the Asetek LCLC water cooler that was released back in 2006 comes to mind. When the Asetek LCLC water cooler was announced it was said to be available for roughly $40, but it never seemed to catch on and was available mostly to original equipment manufacturers (OEM) and was not widely available to the public. Today you can find the Asetek LCLC at a few retailers on Google Shopping for between $60 and $106, but as you can tell the product never caught on outside the OEM market (Asetek informed me that they have sold over 100,000 LCLC kits since 2006). CoolIT Systems noticed that well built water cooler was still missing from the sub $80 retail market and went back to a drawing board to see if something could be designed that had the cooling performance that enthusiasts demand and a price tag that won't break thebank during these troubled economic times. After many long hours and a year in the test lab CoolIT Systems came up with a pre-assembled water cooler can be easily installed inside any standard chassis called the Domino A.L.C.The Domino A.L.C. is factory sealed ready to be quickly and easily installed, so the retail box is modest sized as the water cooler is already plumbed and ready to go when you open the box. The CoolIT Domino A.L.C. packaging shows all the important features and even has pictures to help you quickly see what the product is designed to do. A couple of quotes from past reviews on CoolIT products were included from various review sites, but sadly no quotes from our Eliminator CPU Cooler, Pure CPU Cooler or our USB Beverage Chiller reviews made it.Removing the Domino A.L.C. from the box you will find the cooler safely packed in a clam shell that prevents things from banging around when being shipped to you.Removing the Domino A.L.C. from the box you will find the cooler safely packed in a clam shell that prevents things from banging around when being shipped to you.A few minor imperfections were still observed on the radiator cooling fins as you can see from the image above, but they were easily straightened out using a small flat head screwdriver. Notice that everything is assembled and ready to go the second you open the box. The rubber band that is on the water block is to hold a plastic cover over the already applied thermal interface material, but I cleaned that off in order to use Arctic Silver thermal compound. This was done to keep the testing numbers consistent as no two thermal compound brands are identical. Now that we know what we will be looking at today we can take the Domino A.L.C. out of the box and give you a better look at how it works.

Now that main gift giving time is over this holiday you might find yourself a little closer to that home theater you've been dreaming of the past few months. The vast majority of people will stuff that new home stereo equipment into an existing TV stand and never give heat much thought. With receivers and high-definition cable boxes the norm these days, things can get pretty toasty in a TV stand. Add in a Home Theater PC (HTPC) and maybe a CD changer or your Blu-Ray/DVD player and you'll find out rather quickly that all of the components are getting a little too hot.For those of you that have a TV stand like the one pictured below, Antec designed an A/V cooler that was designed to remove the hot air from the electronics and look good while doing it. Since the Antec A/V cooler is nothing more than a box with a pair of fans in it for cooling, theA/V cooler will work on any and all of your home audio/video equipment. It wouldn't hurt to update that TV stand while you are at it as in situations like the one pictured above there is no space left to add anything!Once you open the retail box you will find the Antec A/V Cooler, AC power adapter and the installation instructions. The instructions are very straight forward on this one as you just need to plug it in and set it between some hot stereo components and set the fan to either high or low.
The Antec A/V Cooler Specifications:
Air flow: 5.5 CFM on Low, 8.0 CFM on High
RPM: 1200 on Low, 1600 on High

Cooler Master Hyper Z600

When you're looking for a silent cooler for your high-end PC or you want to overclock your CPU to it's maximum sooner or later you'll find yourself buying an expensive water based cooling system or a huge heat pipe cooler. In these days coolers like these are becoming easier to find. Some brands are a bit more interesting to the consumers though, because of their high availability, good reputation and balanced price (if possible), and that's the case with Cooler Master and their new cooler Hyper Z600, which very recently became available.Cooler Master are the definite veterans in cooling technology. The brand is well known around the world and their products can be found in most PC stores. Aside from CPU coolers and full PC cooling solutions, the company also manufactures PC cases, PSUs, modding accessories, and many other things, and is a partner of NVIDIA and many other manufacturers, assisting them in the manufacture of coolers, cases and accessories for their products. Adding those things together makes the expectations for a top quality product logical. And that's exactly what Hyper Z600 is.Cooler Master Hyper Z600 comes well packed in it's cardboard box, wrapped with even more cardboard and a fine synthetic fiber, which helps the radiator fins stay intact even during it's extraction from the box.The size of Hyper Z600 isn't accidental. It's meant to be passive. It's no coincidence that it comes w/o a ventilator and that it has such dimestions. In a modern PC case the CPU cooler rests just below the PSU and often next to another ventilator that pulls air outside the box from behind. The X-Shape design of the Cooler Master Hyper Z600 allows easy airflow from every direction, so the whole work of creating a steady airflow to cool the CPU goes to the PSU this time (especially modern PSUs with a 120mm vent inside) and the rear vent. Of course the 6 heat pipes "take the blame" for supplying the fins with equal heat from each side.
