qeep now in India
Blue Lion mobile GmbH, based in Cologne, Germany has launched its services in India for its flagship product "qeep" - a social networking software developed on Java for mobile phones.
qeep can be downloaded for free and installed on mobile phones allowing users to stay in contact with their friends from any place at any time and make new acquaintances around the world. Private messaging, photo-blogging, live multi-player gaming and sound attacks are some of the features offered by qeep.In a joint statement the two founders and developers of qeep, Cornelius Rost and Christian Schulte, said, "We are very happy to officially start our services in India. Already, India contributes to 20% of the 300,000 members in qeep. We are confident that in the next three months the percentage will rise significantly. The whole essence of qeep is to build a global community of like-minded people who can be in touch 24 x 7. It's an international community that has no barriers and borders. Currently there are people from 160 countries and over 3,000 people joining everyday worldwide."
"qeep enables people to communicate with friends when commuting to and from work, in short breaks and during waiting and travel periods in the bus or local train. One can easily be in contact with his/her friends by writing private messages or indulge in playing a live-game or even make new acquaintances 24 x 7. The use of qeep might endure only for a few minutes, which is enough to read and answer new messages or look at a friend’s new photos. Hundreds of people are always online with their mobiles and are inviting each other to live games, photo blogging and sound attacks – all for free," they added.
Users, called qeepers, can find people with similar interests by giving a short summary of their interests on their profiles. qeepers can send invites to people they want to be friends with or can just 'nudge' them or send a QMS that is free of charge.
Download qeep for free from here or via the WAP portal.

According to Softpedia, As the Beijing Olympics just opened, Google announced the launch of a new website that comprises the latest news in the sports world, videos of the competitions provided by YouTube, or 3D models of the stadiums that host the events, created with the Google SketchUp. The events schedule and a medal count, either for sports or for regions, are offered to Google users on a mobile platform. The website is available in 66 countries and in 31 languages, as Dylan Casey, Product Manager at Google, reveals. The satellite imagery was also updated, in order to offer users who cannot attend the games a virtual experience to match the intensity of the genuine one. Moreover, the possibility of seeing details that range from stadium seats to racing tracks makes the Internet experience even more enjoyable."To track medal counts, click on the 'Medals' tab and zoom or pan the map to see updates around the world. Clicking on a country or region will display medal information as it's received. Use the 'Events' tab to view the latest schedules by date, country, and sport. All data – including country and region participants, sport results, and medal counts – is provided through an official feed from the World News Press Agency", explains Brittany Bohnet, Google Maps Special Projects.
Dylan Casey, the team member who announced the launch of the new Google site on the company’s official blog, was actually a member of the U.S. Olympic team himself. Born in 1971, the Google fellow made it into the team that competed at the Olympics in Sydney, in 2000. "Even though I didn’t walk away with any medals then, training and competing involved a herculean effort - but that pales in comparison to what we’re unveiling today." says Casey, drawing a parallel between his performance as a sportsman and his achievements with Google.

Back in August, Nokia revealed its new "Internet service multimedia platform," called Ovi. Ovi is designed to be a web portal for accessing sites, services, and content, including music and games. The service was quickly derided for its use of Windows Media content, but Nokia seems to have been listening. According to Gizmodo, the company's multimedia maven, Anssi Vanjoki, has invited Apple to join the portal and provide iTunes Store content to Nokia owners.Source :http://arstechnica.com/
