Logitech unveiled G-series peripherals
The G-series line of gaming peripherals from Logitech gives gamers what they want: complete control. Today, Logitech unveiled an extension of its award-winning G-series by introducing three new products that deliver precision, high performance and customization: the Logitech G19 keyboard for gaming, the Logitech G35 surround sound headset and the Logitech G9x laser mouse. Delivering everything gamers need for a competitive edge – from programmable buttons to 7.1-channel surround sound and 5000 dpi laser sensors to backlit keys – Logitech’s best-in-class gaming peripherals are engineered to deliver everything you have always wanted.“The G-series product line is all about seeing how far we can push the envelope, giving gamers extraordinary, engineered-to-win features developed as a result of our deep connection with the gaming community,” said Ruben Mookerjee, Logitech’s director of product marketing for gaming. “With eachone of these new G-series products, gamers gain exceptional benefits; but most importantly, they can transform their gear to suit their gameplay.”
The Logitech G19 Keyboard for Gaming
Giving you an arsenal of advanced gaming technology, the Logitech G19 keyboard for gaming is the first Logitech keyboard to feature a color GamePanel LCD. The tiltable, 320-by-240-pixel display provides valuable in-game information for over sixty games, including World of Warcraft (requires installation of included Logitech GamePanel software). In addition to in-game information, the screen can show VoIP communication data, clock, CPU load, or other non-gaming specific items such as pictures or videos. And you can easily switch among types of information – without ever leaving your game.
Logitech’s newest keyboard for gaming offers 12 fully programmable G-keys with three macros per key, giving you 36 time-saving commands per game. Performing multiple actions simultaneously is also made easier with the keyboard’s multi-key input-functionality, which allows you to engage up to five keys at the same time.
A popular feature with previous Logitech keyboards for gaming, the Game Mode switch can disable the Windows® key so you don’t get accidentally locked out of your game. And so you can connect and power devices – such as your G9x mouse or G35 headset – the G19 keyboard features two high-speed USB 2.0 ports.
The G19 keyboard for gaming is compatible with both Windows-based and Mac computers.
The Logitech G35 Surround Sound Headset
For game-changing immersion, the Logitech G35 headset is the first Logitech headset to offer 7.1 surround sound – a perfect complement to the growing number of action games and high-definition movies that support 7.1-channel surround sound. Powered by second-generation Dolby Headphone technology, the G35 headset simulates the complex acoustics of a listening room, creating a detailed, outside-the-head sound field. Plus, with its proprietary ear-enclosing design, the G35 headset greatly reduces ambient noise from interfering with your entertainment, while an adjustable, noise-canceling microphone focuses on your voice and reduces background noise.
If you want to sound like your World of Warcraft character or disguise your voice when gaming, you can install the included software to enjoy six voice-morphing options, including cyborg, giant, mutant, space squirrel, troll and alien. If you use popular chat clients such as Ventrilo or Team Speak, the G35 headset includes three G-keys on the left earpiece for one-touch command over voice morphing. Additional on-ear audio controls provide quick access to volume, microphone mute and surround sound adjustments.
To ensure your headset remains comfortable during long gaming sessions, the G35 headset features three swappable headbands – thin, thick and contoured designs – so you can select the style that fits you best.
To enhance sound files recorded in more traditional formats, including MP3 files, the G35 headset uses Dolby Pro Logic II in conjunction with Dolby Headphone technology to create an expanded stereo sound.
The Logitech G9x Laser Mouse
Providing precision at any hand speed (up to 150 inches per second on most popular gaming-mousepad surfaces), the Logitech G9x laser mouse extends the promise of the award-winning Logitech G9 Laser Mouse with its next-generation laser sensor. Featuring on-the-fly adjustable dpi from 200 to 5000 dpi, the G9x mouse makes it easy to go from pixel-precise targeting to lightning-fast maneuvers without pausing the action.
The G9x mouse includes two interchangeable, snap-on grips that let you choose a fit and feel that’s best for your playing style. With more ways to tune for the way you play, the G9x mouse also features onboard memory – program up to five ready-to-play profiles. The weight-tuning system gives you up to 28 grams of extra weight. And custom-color LEDs let you match your G9x mouse to your personal preference – or the colors you choose for your G19 keyboard or G13 gameboard.

If there's one company that understands how to hype up a product, it's Art Lebedev Studios, the company responsible for the Optimus Maximus. Oft delayed to the point of being considered vaporware, the OLED keyboard finally saw the light of day after laying not so low for nearly 3 years, and now you can pick one up for just shy of $2,000.This time around it's the Optimus Aux that's being pimped to the press with new product shots emerging. Formerly known as the Pultius, the renamed Aux is a numeric keypad designed with the same OLED DNA as the Maximus. According to the company's blog, the key rows have been moved closer together in this newest revision (fifteen keys in all), and it now looks to ship with two downstream USB ports instead of one. There's also an upstream USB port, a Kensigton lock hole, and a power socket. No word on price or availability, but if the past is any indication, expect it to be expensive and delayed.

Logitech has been producing high end peripherals for years, but can the company’s midrange products maintain the aesthetics and functionality of its more expensive gear? We tested the Desktop Wave to find out.Right off the bat, we loaded up Team Fortress 2 to see if this keyboard-mouse combo could gain our gamer’s stamp of approval. Throughout the game, the Wave keyboard yielded none of the registry flaws we experienced with the Alto. The experience was a bit rough, however, as the mouse lacks Teflon skates and has no on-the-fly dpi adjustment. While clearly not designed for hardcore fragging, the Wave provided an acceptable gaming experience—but we wouldn’t recommend you use it at your next LAN party.
The keyboard features a curved layout, quiet keystrokes and padded wrist support. The function keys have secondary binds programmed through the SetPoint drivers and are positioned in four groups of three. We tested every one of these extra buttons and found that all of them worked, except the zoom key. In fact, the drivers didn't even detect the key, barring us from manually configuring it.
The laser mouse is comfortable and completely symmetrical for the rare left-hand user. While this is great, it creates an annoyance for both left- and right-handed users looking to utilize both function buttons. Each identical, opposing buttons are placed to accommodate left-hand thumbs and right-hand thumbs; this leaves the left-handed thumb button awkwardly placed for right handed users who want to use it. Additionally, during testing, the wheel occasionally failed to register our scroll, leading to a double scroll (a problem akin to nearly all Logitech mice). This wasn’t a huge problem, but if you're a gamer who scrolls to switch weapons, prepare for frustration.
As advertised, the Wave is comfortable to use for extended periods of time but is really suitable only for casual use. Gamers and power users, keep looking.

a new keyboard addition to its rugged hardware portfolio. The new device features a waterproof rubbery membrane that is said to keep water off the delicate circuitry inside.According to the company, the device is especially built for industrial environments with increased humidity and dust. It is also equipped with a hardcoated, textured, polyester film that offers increased ruggedness to the conventional silicone rubber keypads.
"What's great about the membrane keyboard is there are no crevices," said Joel East, Director of Technical Design at iKey. "If you're working around processing byproducts, grease, or other things that might accumulate between the keys of a regular keyboard, you can just spray it down and know that it's clean," East continued. The keyboard's design includes raised, mechanical snap-dome keys with an integrated Synaptics touchpad, similar to the notebook mouse trackpad. Therefore, the keyboard can substitute for a conventional mouse, which adds extra usability and cuts down on physical space requirements.
The company said that the membrane product line currently includes a conventional desktop design, as well as a panel mount model, that can be easily deployed into industrial equipments using a stainless steel case. Moreover, the manufacturer provides customers with an OEM kit that packs additional hardware for hassle-free integration.
The membrane keyboard can be easily cleaned up, either by using a wet piece of cloth, or even by using direct hose water. The polymer membrane is also guaranteed for prolonged use, with a lifespan that easily surpasses a conventional keyboard.
The Synaptics touchpad is also waterproof, as it comes completely sealed and covered by an additional layer of PVC membrane.
The company also plans to introduce a backlit keyboard model later this year, that will not only add extra functionality when used in dimly-lit environments, but also make the keyboard more appealing to desktop users who would like a die-hard keyboard.

I can see why someone would think to pack a PC inside the keyboard, as someday you may want to upgrade your monitor. You won’t be able to do that without getting an entirely new system. Unfortunately, the problem here is that you’re going to get a really bulky keyboard that may or may not be comfortable to type on. Personally, I change out keyboards much more often than I switch monitors, so I’ll just stick with the tried-and-true method. If you’re in the market for a keyboard computer (and don’t feel like robbing the bottom half of a notebook) then this will set you back between $629 and $1099.Read d rest...
Art Lebedev's Optimus OLED keyboard has made many headlines over the past couple of years, but the keyboard's prohibitive price tag (at least for a multi-OLED model) and limited availability makes it little more than a technical curiosity for most users. However, as Engadget reports, a company called United Keys has teamed up with Taiwanese manufacturing giant Foxconn to produce a competing keyboard that could very well present a more realistic value proposition. The keyboard in question will be a gaming model, and like the Optimus, a number of its keys will double as programmable OLED displays. United Keys has a concept shot on its website, although the company doesn't make it clear whether its gaming product will have the same design.Engadget quotes United Keys as saying it intends to start shipping its OLED keyboard some time this summer. The company also claims to hold two patents on the technology, adding that it looked for patents filed by Art Lebedev but failed to find any. And here is the rest of it.

Here's the next forward-thinking keyboard idea from the Art.Lebedev Studio—this Optimus Tactus is a keyboard that has no keys. Along with its touchscreen substituting for physical keys comes flexibility, giving you choices of how big those graphic keys can be. When you're not typing, you can even substitute a video screen instead of the images of keys in front of you.
