New Forceware 178.24 Drivers Released
Nvidia this week has released new WHQL videocard drivers - version 178.24 - applicable for GeForce 6-, 7-, 8-, 9-, and 200-series owners. The 85MB download sports a number of improvements, including PhysX acceleration on all GeForce 8-, 9-, and 200 series GPUs with at least 256MB of graphics memory. Intel X5400XS motherboard owners can now run up to 3-way SLI with the new driver package.Gaming looks to get a sizable boost with the new drivers as well. Nvidia claims both Call of Duty 4 and Bioshock (DX10) will see a 15 percent gain by running 178.24, while Assassin's Creed (DX10) will get an 11 percent bump on a singlecard setup. For those sporting 2-way SLI, World in Conflict (DX10), Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, and company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts (DX10) are said to run at least 10 percent faster.

Yesterday, Nvidia announced a new beta release of its Linux display driver, version 177.67, which brings support for GeForce GTX 260 and GeForce GTX 280 GPUs. Let's take a quick look now at the improvements and bug fixes that can be found in Nvidia 177.67 Beta:• The RENDER masks, RENDER repeating modes and transformations, for video memory pixmaps, were greatly improved;
• GeForce 8, 9 and GTX GPUs (video memory pixmaps) received accelerated support for the RENDER convolution filter;
• A new option in the xorg.conf was added, AllowSHMPixmaps. The new function can be used to prevent different programs from using shared memory pixmaps;
• DisplayPort display devices support was added;• A workaround was found for the cache flushing problems, which caused stability and corruption issues;
• PCI-E MSI experimental support was added;
• GeForce 6, 7, 8, 9 and GTX stability issues were resolved;
• The TwinView display configuration bug that caused GPU errors, when using Compiz, was fixed;
• Fixed the GPU command stream corruption issues;
• The 'incorrect fake Xinerama information' workaround was removed;
• Better compatibility with the Linux kernel 2.6.x.
How to install?
Log out of your current session and hit the CTRL+ALT+F1 key combination in order to enter a text mode session. Log in as root (System Administrator), go to the folder where you've downloaded the Nvidia driver installer (see below for links) and type:
sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-177.67-pkg1.run or sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-177.67-pkg2.run, depending on your architecture.
Then, follow the on-screen instructions to install the video driver.

Kingston has announced the launch of three revamped USB drives from DATA Traveler family, namely DataTraveler 100, 400 and 101. These storage devices add high-storage space and advance features.Kingston has upgraded the USB drives for superior performance. While the DT100 expands its storage capacity to 16GB, the DT400 incorporates MigoSync software along with 16 GB memory package. The DT101 features security software with 8 GB of memory.“The DT400 with MigoSync has been recognized by business travelers as the perfect solution for keeping files and documents up-to-date while on the road.
