Sahara unveils Montevina-based notebook in India
Sahara Computers has launched its new notebook based on Intel's Montevina platform. Powered by Intel Centrino 2 technology, Core 2 Duo processor (Penryn), the new Sahara NB846137-M002 notebook comes loaded with Linux but is certified on all operating systems.
The notebook comes loaded with Linux but is certified on all operating systems. It also has Mobile Intel GM 45 Express Chipset Family with Intel graphics. The new product also features 2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 Memory and 250 GB 5400 RPM SATA HDD.

Montevina based laptops announced by Acer
Acer has announced the availability of a new laptop line up based entirely on the Intel Montevina platform.
"Acer as usual has been the first to launch the full line up on Intel Montevina platform worldwide & in India across both the Pentium Dual core & Core2Dou platforms continuing the trend of being at the forefront in supporting the latest Notebook technologies that enhance customer experience in the market, as was in the case of the Tablet PC, the Ultra portable and Centrino based Notebooks to name a few. The new range of Acer - Intel Montevina Notebooks is now available in the market for consumer to buy", said Rajendran Chief Marketing Office, Acer India.Among the new machines introduced is the Aspire 4730z, which is powered by Intel Montevina Pentium dual core T3200processor (2.0 GHz / 1 MB L2 Cache / 667 MHz FSB) with Mobile Intel GL40 Express chipset. The Aspire 4730z is equipped with 2 GB of RAM and has a 160 GB HDD, comes in versions with Vista Home Premium, Vista Home Basic and Linux versions. It also comes equipped with a 14.1" WXGA Acer Crystalbrite wide screen with 16ms response time and an Acer Crystal Eye web camera. The Aspire 4730z is available at an MRP of Rs 38,000 . It is also available in the OS pre loaded variant.

Rumours about Intel launching Montevina Platform for notebooks

Intel is going to update its Montevina notebook PC platform in April, 2009 with the introduction of the Montevina Refresh platform, according to a DIGITIMES report, which cites unnamed sources within Intel. The launch of the platform will be accompanied by two new processors, the Core 2 Duo T9900 and P8800.Intel also plans to unveil its GM47 chipset for high-end notebooks in first quarter of next year. Entry-level and small form factor (SFF) PC will also not be over looked, as Intel will launch the GL43 and GS40 chipsets in July or August.A deluge of new processors for the Centrino 2 platform are soon going to be made available by the world’s leading chip maker. Also, the GM55 chipset for Intel’s upcoming 6th generation Centrino platform, Calpella, will become available in July or August next year.
