Almost five months ago, we learned that Lenovo was readying a mainstream ultra-portable notebook dubbed the IdeaPad U110. As DailyTech reports, the Chinese company has now begun taking orders for the machine, quoting a lead time of 3-5 business days on its website.

Available for purchase on this page at a starting price of $1,899, the IdeaPad U110 features a small 11.1" 1366 x 768 LED-backlit display, 1.6GHz Intel Core 2 Duo L7500 processor, 2GB of DDR2-667 RAM, Intel GMA X3100 graphics, 802.11g Wi-Fi, a 120GB 4200RPM hard drive, and Windows Vista Home Premium. With those specs and a four-cell battery, the U110 weighs in at just 2.4 lbs (1.09 kg) with a thickness of only 0.72-0.88" (18.4-22.4 mm). Lenovo says it also includes a seven-cell battery, which ensures up to eight hours of battery life when coupled with the four-cell one.Another version of the same system with a 5400RPM hard drive is listed on Lenovo's website for the same price, but with a lead time of 2-3 weeks. Both systems have a number of little extras, such as a webcam with "VeriFace" face recognition software, touch-sensitive multimedia controls, Dolby Home Theater-certified audio, and an Active Protection System that stops the hard drive in the event of a fall.
