Folks eager to try out the DisplayPort display interface may swoon over Dell's new 30" UltraSharp 3008WFP monitor, but the display's two-grand price tag can probably induce actual fainting. Luckily, Dell has now conjured up a more affordable alternative for those whose pockets aren't lined with hundred dollar bills. As Engadget reports, the new UltraSharp 2408WFP has launched at much less extravagant $748, stuffing many of the same perks offered by the 3800WFP into a 24" panel. Dell says the 2408WFP features a 1920 x 1200 resolution, 6 ms response time, 1,300:1 contrast ratio, 400cd/m² brightness, and the ability to display 102% of the NTSC color gamut. There's also a broad array of display inputs, including DisplayPort, HDMI, two DVI ports, VGA, composite, S-video, and component video. The 2408WFP is available right now from Dell's online store. The $748 price tag includes a five-year warranty, but folks can opt for three-year coverage to chop down the 2408WFP's price to $699. That's still a hundred bucks more expensive than the previous-gen 2407WFP, though.
