Pegasys has released a retail version of the new TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress Video Encoder with
NVIDIA CUDA technology.

The software is now available for purchase via www.tmpg-inc.com. The new NVIDIA CUDA technology offloads much of the processing required for TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress from the CPU to the graphics-processing unit (GPU). The software shows up to a 446% performance increase over the CPU-only version, Pegasys claims.

NVIDIA's CUDA technology is a C language environment for the GPU. It enables programmers and developers to create software for quickly solving complicated computation problems using GPU multicore parallel processing capabilities. The latest generation of NVIDIA GeForce GPUs offers up to 240 processor cores, compared to a maximum of the four cores found on high-end CPUs. Any process that can be divided into multiple elements and run in parallel can be programmed to take advantage of the massive processing potential of the GPU.

Features of TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress include:Convert AVCHD Footage
AVCHD is a HD tapeless video format used in many of today's HD camcorders (such as Sony, Panasonic, and Canon). With AVCHD input support, TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress users can now cut-edit, apply filters and convert AVCHD footage into a high definition video format.

HD MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 - Output Support
Users can output to the MPEG-4 AVC format at high definition.

Embedded MPEG-4 Video Input Support
MPEG-4 support is now embedded into TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress without the help of QuickTime. AAC Audio Input Support in MPEG-2 Transport Stream. It can now be used as an audio source in MPEG-2 transport streams.
