Intel revealed a laptop-sized gadget designed to act as a monitor of your vital stats. The gadget is designed to help patients keep track of health aspects such as medications -- reminding diabetics to check their glucose, or even take someone's blood pressure.
The Intel Health Guide not only tracks your vitals but also allows for getting in touch with your doctor via video-conferencing. The patient information is encrypted and can be wired to your doctor via Intel's online Health Care Management Suite. The Health Guide runs Windows XP and has a 40GB hard drive. Intel said it expects the its Health Guide PHS6000 to be commercially available from health care providers late this year or early 2009.
