Seagate has introduced a new line of products under the name "Showcase Storage Solution" that extend the storage capacity of Digital Video Recorder (DVR), enabling users to store movies and television shows for even longer.

With initial capacities of up to 1TB, consumers will be able to store up to 200 hours of additional HD movies or 1,000 hours of additional standard-definition television on "Showcase" products. The products will have plug-and-play capability, via standard USB 2.0 or eSATA connection. The products will also be available in capacities of 250GB, 500GB, and 750GB. They will weigh approximately 2.5 pounds, and measure approximately 6.5-inches wide, 8-inches deep, and 1.75-inches high."Showcase" products will include Seagate's recently announced Pipeline high-definition series of hard drives purpose-built for DVRs. Pipeline hard drives boast bedroom-quiet acoustics, low-power operation, and the ability to support up to 12 simultaneous HD streams. Seagate said its "Showcase" products will be compatible with Motorola's e-SATA capable HD digital video recorder (DVR) set-top portfolio. "Showcase" products are scheduled to be available for purchase from the Seagate Web site beginning third quarter of this year.
