Windows NT can be configured to automatically disconnect idle LAN sessions after a set number of minutes.

1. Open your registry ( Start >> Run >>> type "Regedit" >> Hit Enter ).

2. Navigate to following key :

Key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Services \ LanmanServer \ Parameters]
Value Name: Autodisconnect
Data Type: REG_DWORD
Data: 0 to4,294,967,295 (Oxffffffff) in minutes

2. Modify the value of 'Autodisconnect' to equal the time in minutes before a session is disconnected. If this value doesn't already exist create a new string value.

3. Restart Windows NT.

Note: To disable Autodisconnects set the value to 'Oxffffffff'.
